Today I am happy to say that my wife Stacey or SilverloxVR will be joining me for this video and will be appearing more often on the channel going forward. So while looking for something new to play Stacey and I came across Carly and the Reaperman: Escape From The Underworld and decided to give it a look and I’m glad we did!
Over the years there have been a few of these asymmetrical couch co op VR titles released but honestly I usually overlooked them and thought they wouldn’t be that fun but this game has shown me that I was wrong about that. Sitting side by side while playing the game brought back a feeling of nostalgia for the old days of gaming for me. Having both players in a VR game is great but there is just something about sitting side by side.
As for the game, Carly and the Reaperman is well done. The graphics and art style of the game look great on both the monitor and in the headset. Interaction between the on screen and in headset characters works very well and is a lot of fun. I did have a few issues as the Reaperman with the movement style. Having to grab the world to pull and push my way through it became tedious and in some places frustrating. Sometimes when I would need to quickly position a block I would end up grabbing both the world and block at the same time causing the scene to shift and the block to stay in place. I think It would be great to see free movement added for the Reaperman so I could just fly through the map using the stick on my Touch controller.
Other than the slightly annoying movement mechanic for the Reaperman I have to say we both had a lot of fun playing this game and would recommend it.
