Fallout 4 is an action role-playing video game set in an open-world environment published by Bethesda Softworks and developed by Bethesda Game Studio. It’s the fifth major installment in the long running Fallout series; the game was released worldwide on November 10, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One.

Set over 200 years after a nuclear war, Fallout 4 takes place in a post-apocalyptic Boston. Our player, being the protagonist, emerges from a high-tech underground bunker identified at Vault 111. The gameplay is similar to previous games of the fallout franchise, such as Fallout 3 and Fallout 3: New Vegas.

The player works their way through a variety of quests and interactions, building up experience and gaining new skills. As the character levels, the open world grows and expands to accommodate their increasing power.

The player meets many people and creatures of the future wasteland and some can join the player on their adventures. These companions aid in many ways and eventually provide special skills after travelling with the player for extended periods. They can even become romantically involved.

There is also an extensive crafting and settlement building system which attract non-player characters to aid the player in generating a variety of resources including food and water.

Fallout 4 is set in a post-apocalyptic Boston in the year 2287, 210 years after a devastating nuclear war, in which the player character emerges from an underground bunker known as Vault 111. Gameplay is similar to that of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. The player completes various quests and acquires experience points to level up their character. With first-person and third-person perspectives available, players can explore Fallout 4’s open world setting at will, allowing nonlinear game-play. The player can bring companions to assist in battles and help with scavenging. Players have the ability to construct and deconstruct buildings and items, and use them to build settlements, which can attract and be inhabited by non-playable characters.

Survival mode of Fallout 4 is the hardest difficult level and has many challenges to pit the player against hunger, thirst and disease.
